Express support for clean energy siting permits now in review by Michigan Public Service Commission

Comment due date: For each individual renewable energy siting case, the public comment period closes when the MPSC makes its final determination.

Now is the time to speak up in support of the seven clean energy projects that have permit applications pending before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).

Surging gas prices and the energy consequences of war in the Middle East spotlight just how irresponsible and unsustainable it is to bolt our energy security to such an unstable region. Communities with renewable energy are better positioned to weather this crisis, and the crises to come. Michiganders must act now.

As Michigan continues to grapple with energy challenges—such as rising utility prices and an unreliable grid—renewable energy development is not optional; it is essential. Clean energy is key to building resilience in our communities.

Solar is the fastest-to-build, most affordable way to deliver clean, reliable energy. When developed responsibly, solar projects can help land recover and strengthen local economies.

Additionally, renewable energy projects can provide important support to local farmers. By leasing their land for wind or solar projects, farmers generate a steady income that can help sustain their operations and secure their farmland. Nationwide farmer bankruptcies rose 46% in 2025, and income from clean energy projects offers a valuable opportunity to keep farmland in the hands of those who work it.

Seven clean energy projects are now before the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), and your voice matters. Now is the time to make sure our state officials hear from us—loud and clear—as they shape Michigan’s clean energy future.

By sending the action alert letter at lower right, you are encouraging the MPSC to prioritize energy independence, resilience, and clean air for Michiganders!
