Local Food Relief Fund
Groundwork launched the Local Food Relief Fund in April 2020 in response to COVID-19 impacts on working families and farms. This rapid response was made possible through the sustaining support of people like you.
The Local Food Relief Fund raises donations for food pantries to purchase locally raised food—leveraging triple value from every dollar:
1. Donations purchase crops available now and guarantee purchases throughout the growing season, creating much-needed financial stability for farmers.
2. Food pantries are able to keep shelves stocked, and provide high-quality, nutrient-dense food to families. Healthy food is essential for physical and mental well-being during stressful times.
3. By keeping purchases local, donations send positive ripple effects throughout the regional economy and strengthen food supply chains for all of us.
For more information about the Local Food Relief Fund, or if you are a grower interested in selling food to pantries, please contact Groundwork's Local Food Policy Specialist, Jen Schaap, or our Food Equity Specialist, Christina Barkel.
