Letter to editor writing party. Line 5

Letter to the editor writing party! Stop Line 5.

January 18, 2025 |

Happy New Year!

My name is Lyla Hollis, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new Line 5 Contractor with Groundwork. It’s an honor to join this community of passionate advocates working to protect our Great Lakes, our communities, and our climate future by working together to shut down Line 5. Together, we can drive meaningful change—but we need your voice to make it happen!

I’d like to personally invite you to an important Letter to the Editor (LTE) Writing Event on Wednesday, January 22nd, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. This event offers a unique opportunity to amplify our message, shape public opinion, and ensure that decision-makers hear loud and clear: Michigan deserves a future free from the dangers of this crumbling pipeline.

Event Details:
Date: Wednesday, January 22nd
Time: 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Location: Hybrid.
Join
via Zoom or attend in-person at the Groundwork Offices located at 414 E. Eighth Street Suite 204. Traverse City, MI 49686.
IMPORTANT: Whether you will attend in person or online, sign up using the Zoom registration link.

We’re at a pivotal moment in the fight against Line 5. In the coming months, it will be crucial for Governor Whitmer and EGLE to pursue a rigorous water resource permitting process that not only prioritizes the protection of our Great Lakes but also provides robust opportunities for public input. Your letters can help elevate this demand, ensuring this issue remains front and center in the public and media discourse.

Why do LTEs matter? Letters to the editor are a powerful tool for campaigns like ours. They raise awareness, influence policymakers, and keep critical issues—like the risks of Line 5—visible in local communities. By sharing your perspective, you contribute to a groundswell of public opinion that strengthens our collective voice.

Our team will be there to guide the writing process, answer questions, and help craft messages that resonate with readers and decision-makers alike. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or new to advocacy, your voice matters. Let’s come together to make an impact!

RSVP today, and let’s make 2025 the year Michigan takes bold action for our Great Lakes. I can’t wait to see you there!

With gratitude,

Lyla Hollis
