Spring is the season of rejuvenation, of hope, and of anticipation. Sunshine, greening forests and fields, open blue Lake Michigan waters. Since today, March 20, is the Spring Equinox, we at Groundwork are full of those emotions.
In particular, we eagerly anticipate the Michigan Clean Energy Conference & Fair, which our energy policy specialist Dan Worth has helped organize, and which Northwestern Michigan College will host June 23-25. Please save those dates, which fall just days after the Summer Solstice, but before Traverse City’s peak tourism season.
The Clean Energy Conference & Fair is a three-day event designed to mobilize clean energy investments in Michigan homes, businesses and communities. Join us to see how residents and businesses are innovating to create a locally grown, clean energy economy.
The conference will kick off Friday, June 23, for a panel discussion at the State Theater about the future of electric mobility. Interest in electric vehicles continues to grow as the automotive industry finds ways to make EVs more affordable and environmentally friendly. Owner of Crystal Mountain and clean energy advocate Jim MacInnes will moderate a compelling panel discussion on electric mobility featuring thought leaders and industry experts from around the state.
On Saturday, June 24, the Michigan Clean Energy Conference brings together local government staff, investors, businesses, and solar enthusiasts to discuss how to accelerate clean energy investments in Michigan homes, businesses, and community facilities. National and state leaders share their experience with streamlining planning, zoning, permitting, and tax assessor requirements for solar installations; developing project nancing tools; and right-sizing solar projects through energy efficiency first. For communities not yet convinced that solar makes sense in Michigan, a panel of presenters will package a compelling case. A host of networking opportunities are scheduled.
Finally, on Sunday June 25, the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (GLREA) will holds its Energy Fair. Homeowners, commercial property owners, agricultural producers and families will appreciate the opportunity to assess and enjoy the full range of renewable energy and energy efficiency products and services offered by Michigan businesses and organizations. Exhibits, hands-on demonstrations, educational workshops, training sessions, and deal-making showcase the expertise available to inform wise clean energy investments.
Stay tuned for more details about how you can join the conference.
