Insist on dedicated funding for
10 Cents a Meal!

We are writing today to ask you to again rally to help save funding for the program 10 Cents a Meal for Michigan’s Kids and Farms.
The program has helped bring local food and all its health benefits into school meals across the state and has paid local farmers millions of dollars to help them make ends meet.
We hear that the state’s budget deal between the legislature and the governor could be signed this Wednesday. The last we saw, the line item for 10 Cents a Meal would go away as part of a new funding structure for schools.
BUT our kids and farmers still need dedicated funding for local food As we seek to build a better Michigan, it is important that our future leaders build healthy habits now, and that our farmers and food producers are respected as valued and essential components in contributing to our state's economy.
Healthy food provided through 10 Cents a Meal is more important now than ever, because federal cuts to food programs will also be hitting low-income children hard.
Children need good food to learn and grow strong, and family farms deserve market options and this important income stream.
Please send our letter now to key legislators and the governor. Tell them you expect them to show up to support children and family farms.
Thank you!
